SORRY!
The manufacturer (Smarthome) has declared this controller as "Discontinued." We will no longer carry it. It has had a long and useful life span of 6+ years. In fact, it was the first INSTEON based USB power line interface developed. However, technology moves on. INSTEON modules have become faster and even more reliable, but alas, the 2414U can not keep up and accommodate the recent INSTEON protocol advancements any more. Therefore, the PowerLinc Controller (2414U) no longer works with INSTEON devices shipping after March 2012. You might want to consider the newer PowerLinc Modem 2413U. It is USB based and can handle BOTH X10 and INSTEON protocols and is both power line and INSTEON RF capable. Of course, it is also supported by Indigo.

The description below is for historical reference.
Although the INSTEON PowerLinc Modem USB is the controller of choice for your Indigo/INSTEON system, the INSTEON PowerLinc V2 Controller is the choice if you have a need to upload simple schedules and triggers from Indigo and then turn off your Mac. The PowerLinc Modeum USB does not have an internal clock and thus does not have this "upload/standalone" functionality.
The PowerLinc V2 Controller (2414U) plugs into the outlet nearest your computer and then connects with your Mac via the provided USB cable. No serial to USB adapter is necessary. There’s even a pass through outlet on the face of the INSTEON PowerLinc V2 so you don’t lose the utility of the outlet you’ve used.
Dual Protocol Functionality
It’s like a super charged X-10 based PowerLinc Controller. That is, the INSTEON PowerLinc V2 Controller can process the X10 commands coming from Indigo for those X10 devices you depend on, but more importantly it can handle the native INSTEON commands from Indigo and send them down line to your new INSTEON LampLinc V2s, SwitchLinc V2s, ApplianceLinc V2s, and KeyPadLincs V2s. Now you’ll have true sophisticated INSTEON access to your INSTEON devices. You gain the reliability, security and response speed that the new INSTEON technology has brought to the home automation field. Remember every INSTEON device in your home network is a repeater and so as the number of devices increase, the reliability increases. Speed? The new INSTEON technology will usually make your device respond in less than 5/100ths of a second - - - much faster than a comparable X10 device. To most of us mere mortals, the response will appear to be instantaneous.
Kudos to Indigo
The INSTEON PowerLinc V2 Controller, like its X10 counterpart, the PowerLinc Controller 1132CU has a 32K on board memory and a 10 year internal clock for uploading commands and allowing you to turn off your computer and still have a degree of control over your home automation devices. This upload capability allows you to upload your simple schedules to the 2414U from Indigo 4 and then turn off your Mac. The PowerLinc 2414U will then execute those schedules independently.

Added Plus from MacHomeStore.com
As an added service from MacHomeStore.com, we “pre-test” each and every INSTEON PowerLinc V2 Controller before we ship it out the door to you. We do this under Indigo installed on our Macs here. We do this because we recognize that this device is the crucial link between your home automation software (Indigo) and all those neat INSTEON and X-10 devices you have installed. Just a little added assurance because we want satisfaction from you, not frustration.
We also include with every PowerLinc V2 Controller an exclusive "Setup Instruction Sheet" that explains in easy to follow steps how to get your INSTEON PowerLinc up and running quickly with Indigo Lite and Pro. It supersedes and simplifies the manufacturer's instruction sheet which, of course, is primarily geared toward the (ugh!) PC platform.
