The INSTEON LampLinc V2 Dimmer can be used with any standard incandescent lamps, up to 300 watts. It should not be used for low-voltage lighting, fluorescent lights, or motors. These are inductive loads, which the LampLinc V2 Dimmer is not designed to control. The INSTEON LampLinc V2 Dimmer can be installed and setup in less than 5 minutes. It also works with legacy X10 products to make your transition from X10 to INSTEON as smooth as possible.
The LampLinc V2 Dimmer is a full-featured lamp dimmer. Lamps in your home can be remotely controlled by plugging each into a LampLinc V2 Dimmer. The lamp can then be remotely controlled with other INSTEON devices by using the linkage capability of the INSTEON protocol . . . and, of course, it can always be controlled by Indigo. Since the LampLinc V2 Dimmer can also be assigned an X10 house code, you can also communicate to it using that protocol. However, you will most likely want to control it using native INSTEON commands for increased reliability and response speed.
Interference Free
Every INSTEON LampLinc has a unique ID (out of a possible 16,777,216 possibilities which any good geek will recognize as 2 to the 24th power). There is no need to assign addresses or spin wheels, virtually eliminating the possibility of a neighbor intruding on your network. No more limited house codes - - - now you will use the unique six character ID labeled on each INSTEON device.
Set Up and Install Using Indigo
If you're lucky enough to have Indigo downloaded and you have the INSTEON PowerLinc V2 Controller or the newer INSTEON PowerLinc Modem, USB (Dual-Band) then the definition and linkage of an INSTEON device is about as easy as it gets:
- Jot down the 6 character ID located on the back of the LampLinc V2 Dimmer
- Plug the LampLinc V2 Dimmer into the wall plug.
- Plug the lamp that you want to control into the outlet on the bottom of the LampLinc.
- Manually, make sure the lamp is on.
- Go to your Mac and name your new device within Indigo and enter the ID you jotted down. Hit the Start Link button that Indigo presents to you.
- Wait for the 10-15 seconds it takes Indigo to go through the linking process.
That’s it! Your device is now part of your INSTEON network. You’ll notice that there was no pushing buttons on the device or running back and forth between the device looking for solid or blinking LEDs telling you everything is okay. Kudos to Indigo for making the INSTEON setup process work so smoothly!
