SlimFire™ TIMES FOUR and MORE

You’ve got the SlimFire on your keychain or in your car to handle turning your lights on and off as you come and go. But now you need a remote more substantial to be on the coffee table or the bedside table. The PalmPad™ Remote Control (HR12A) is the answer. It can handle up to 16 lights, lamps and other devices - - - an entire house code series.

Interpreting the Signals

The PalmPad sends out Radio Frequency (RF) signals to a distance of 100 feet when you push the buttons. Since it’s RF, line of sight is not an issue and walls are not a barrier. You’ll need an X10 enabled transceiver like the Mini Transceiver (TM751) or the V572 RF Receiver to route the signal into the power line of your home where it can find its way directly to the lamp or light to be controlled. The W800RF32A Transceiver, of course, will get the X10 signal directly into your computer (and Indigo). You most likely will opt for your home automation software like Indigo to take the remote’s transmitted X10 command and generate a sequence of events more complex than just turning a single device on. That is, one button may signal your control software to create a “scene” in your TV room that involves specific settings for 4 or 5 lamps or lights that are X10 or INSTEON controlled.

Basic Set Up Is Easy

  • Install 4 AAA alkaline batteries in the battery compartment.
  • Use a dime to set the house code dial to match the X10 Modules and Transceiver you want to control. However, remember if you want your home automation software to control the modules, then they most likely will have different house codes than the ones you actually transmit with your PalmPad. This allows your control software to perform conditonal logic, like only turning on lights after sunset.
  • Set the PalmPad slide switch to 1-8 to control X10 Modules that have been set to Unit Codes 1 thru 8 or to transmit the codes to your HA software to process.
  • Set the slide switch to 9-16 to control X10 Modules 9 thru 16.
  • Press the corresponding ON or OFF button to turn X10 Modules on and off or to initiate even more complex sequences of events if you’re using a home automation program like Indigo.
  • To brighten or dim lights connected to X10 Lamp Modules and Wall Switch Modules, first press the corresponding number button, then press the UP or DOWN (blue) buttons.

Make It Easy On Yourself

If you want to control the same devices from multiple remote controls, no problem. You can program the same button codes into multiple PalmPads and have the remotes all over the house. Be a couch potato that all your neighbors will envy and admire.

NOTE: 4 AAA alkaline batteries are not included.
