This I/O Linc Kit includes everything needed to monitor and operate your garage door via your Indigo 4/INSTEON home automation system. Magnetic contacts are used to create the indicator as to the current status of your garage door. NOTE: The I/O Linc is only compatible with Indigo 4 Pro or above. Basic Info The I/O Linc – INSTEON Garage Door Control & Status Kit lets you know if you accidentally left the garage door open. You can then remotely close it if necessary. This kit takes advantage of the bi-directional capability of I/O Linc - INSTEON Low Voltage / Contact Closure Interface ( 1 In / 1 Out ), allowing it to send a command that indicates the status of your garage door and to receive an incoming command that operates the garage door. Using Indigo 4/INSTEON automation, you can link a button on a KeypadLInc as a status light to indicate whether or not your garage door is open and remotely open or close the garage door from other areas of your house using that button or another button on the KeypadLinc, a SwitchLinc or a RemoteLinc. With the appropriate setup within Indigo, you can even check status and open or close your garage from anywhere in the world using an Internet browser or the free Indigo Touch iPhone App you can download from the iTunes store. DON’T FORGET You should only remotely close a garage door when you can be sure it is safe. Use of safety beam devices can further increase the safety of remote garage door control and are usually required by law. How It Works The included garage door sensor mounts to the garage door and is wired directly to I/O Linc’s sensor input. When the garage door is open, the garage door sensor triggers the I/O to send a signal that will turn on an INSTEON controlled light and/or report its status to Indigo. Additionally, I/O Linc’s output relay wires to your garage door motor just like your existing button, allowing you to remotely operate your garage from any INSTEON controller. Note: Two sets of 20 Foot 2 Conductor, 22-Gauge/AWG Interconnect Wire, White are included to provide connections between devices. Need a Screwdriver? To connect sensor wire with I/O Linc, any 1.5mm flathead screwdriver that is small enough to fit the I/O Linc screw terminals is required.
