Here at last!

The world's first INSTEON wireless remote control and it’s ready to incorporate into your Indigo home automation environment. Now you can setup the six remote buttons to directly link to INSTEON enabled modules in your home. You can control up to six scenes encompassing up to 417 devices. (Does anyone really have that many?) ALL ON & OFF and DIM/BRIGHT functions are also supported directly by the RemoteLinc. Or, you can choose to have Indigo intercept your button pushes and thus incorporate them into more powerful Indigo Trigger scripts. The RemoteLinc also includes a customizable label with a clear mylar protector to keep it clean.

Choice of Color and Finish

The RemoteLinc comes in a Silver Metallic finish or Black Suede (for $10 more). The Black Suede RemoteLinc works just like the Silver RemoteLinc, only it features a sueded finish that's soft to the touch. This polymer coating makes it easier to grip and much more comfortable. The RemoteLinc's black color helps it fit in amongst any home's decor, while it's sueded finish gives it that nice feel you'd expect from any high-end remote control. Make your choice via the options selection at the bottom of this page.

Basics of How it Works

Tapping the ON/OFF buttons on the RemoteLinc turns your lights (or scenes) ON and OFF; press and hold the ON button to brighten every light in the scene or press and hold the OFF button to dim every light in the scene. The ALL ON/ALL OFF buttons control all devices linked to any of the six ON/OFF buttons plus any additional devices you link to them. The BRIGHT/DIM buttons brighten and dim the last INSTEON devices you controlled from your RemoteLinc. The white LED indicator blinks when messages are being sent and during set up. The RemoteLinc is powered by four AAA alkaline batteries (included); it will also function with rechargeable batteries. And, of course, you can choose to have Indigo respond to button pushes any other way you desire.

Linking Setup Example

The RemoteLinc can be set up in less than five minutes to control your lights using its simple "linking mode." For example, if you want to control a lamp plugged into an INSTEON LampLinc Dimmer from your RemoteLinc and already have your AccessPoints installed, follow these steps: choose a button on the RemoteLinc and press and hold it for 10 seconds, putting your RemoteLinc into linking mode. Then press and hold the SET button on the LampLinc and you're done! Your LampLinc can now be controlled by that ON/OFF button, the ALL ON/ALL OFF and BRIGHT/DIM buttons on your RemoteLinc.

And . . . Excellent RF Range

Officially rated at over 150' line-of-sight from nearest AccessPoint. Of course, your results can vary dependent on the construction of your house and how many walls between your RemoteLinc and your receiving AccessPoint.

What’s the Relationship between AccessPoints and the RemoteLinc?

INSTEON Access Points are required because RemoteLinc's RF INSTEON signals need to be received by the internal antenna of the nearest AccessPoint and then bridged (via the other AccessPoint in your house) with all of your other INSTEON devices. The INSTEON SignaLinc RF Pair are NOT responsive to the RF signals transmitted by the RemoteLinc. The Access Point is the only “receiver” that can handle the INSTEON-based RF signals generated by the RemoteLinc. That signal is then “beamed” across to the other AccessPoint positioned on the other 110V power leg in your home. The INSTEON command is instantly placed on the power line by the AccessPoints and sent to the INSTEON LampLinc, SwitchLinc, ApplianceLinc, etc. that is being addressed. Or, to Indigo for any specialized action you have defined.
NOTE: The RemoteLinc and the AccessPoints are not X10 compatible. That means the RemoteLinc cannot be used to send X10-based RF signals to an X10 RF transceiver like the W800RF32A and similarly the AccessPoints cannot interpret X10 RF signals sent from a Motion Detector or a PalmPad.
