INSTEON enabled Irrigation Controller is now available!
EZFlora (use to be called EZRain) is an 8-zone irrigation unit capable of controlling valves either individually, or in program sequences in response to single INSTEON or X10 commands from a home automation control program like Indigo 4 Pro. Used in INSTEON mode means it has the normal INSTEON features of repeating powerline INSTEON signals which means that your INSTEON mesh network becomes a notch stronger. And, of course, like all INSTEON modules, it has 2-way communications for high reliability. EZFlora has a built-in power line interface and requires only a 24VAC irrigation transformer to power the valves. The transformer could even be plugged into the pass-thru outlet of the EZFlora module itself.
Flexible Programming Options
Your can program the EZFlora INSTEON/X10 8-Zone Sprinkler Controller to turn your sprinklers on and off at specific times at designated intervals. You have the ability to set up to four independent irrigation programs for different zones of your yard. One valve is even programmable for pump (always on) control, and separate timers are stored to prevent a valve being left on indefinitely. EZFlora can memorize up to 4 program sequences which can then be recalled via a single INSTEON or X10 command.
(NOTE: Indigo, in tandem with the INSTEON PowerLinc V2 Controller 2414U, INSTEON PowerLinc Modem 2412U, or the INSTEON PowerLinc Modem 2413U is required to use the EZFlora.)
Indigo Support
Indigo 4 Pro supports native INSTEON communication with the EZFlora. EZFlora users can specify unused zones by setting a "0" for that zone inside the maximum zone durations field. The EZFlora defaults to a maximum zone duration of 30 minutes. If this is not enough for your zones then you can change them and press the Set button.
Indigo 4 Pro provides buttons in the main window, as well as action types that can be executed, for the following:
- Advancing zones
- Running a schedule of zone durations
- Stopping the schedule
- Pausing/resuming the schedule
NOTE:
Indigo must be running on your Mac for the EZFlora to be controlled. You cannot upload your EZFlora schedules into the PowerLinc Controller 2414U and then turn off your Mac. See these helpful Indigo hardware compatibility tables
X10 Setup
If you want to use the EZFlora in an X10 mode, then remember that it uses an entire House code and is shipped with X10 disabled. To enable or disable X10, push and hold the Set button for at least 10 seconds. The LED will blink at a low rate when the button is released. Now enter an ON (or OFF for disabling) command from your X10 controller. The LED will stop blinking indicating X10 enabling or disabling was successful. The new setting is stored in EZFlora?s memory.
